IT IS NOT TOO LATE—IT WON’T TAKE LONG—WE JUST HAVE TO GET IT STARTED

While we are spreading the word that impeachment is absolutely what the country needs to start the recovery process from the damage inflicted on us by Bush & Cheney, we are constantly hearing, “It’s too late”, “there’s not enough time”, and “they’ll be out of office soon enough anyway”—wrong, wrong, and wrong!!!

Folks, as we at GRIM and other impeachment advocates continue to do our ‘jobs’, here’s how it’s gonna go down:

  1. Because of our constant and relentless prodding, Congress will start impeachment proceedings.
  2. Impeachment investigations will ‘trump’ the Administration’s shield of Executive Privilege. The real reasons for their unprecedented veil of secrecy will surface—self preservation—hiding their lies.
  3. Un-stonewalled investigations will reveal the truth about the administration’s deceitful selling of the Iraq invasion and their withholding of intelligence that was counter to their agenda. This will not be hard to prove once Executive Privilege is no longer in the way.* **
  4. The American public will learn without question that Bush & Cheney duped us into their war under their very deliberately tainted and at least partially fabricated presentation of a ‘mushroom cloud’ threat.
  5. When irrefutable proof surfaces regarding Bush & Cheney’s deceitful selling of their disastrous war, the American people, united in absolute outrage, will rally behind the ongoing impeachment proceedings—party or other affiliations will not matter. Republicans, Independents, Democrats, true Christians, Non-Christians, ‘leftists’, ‘rightists’, ‘middle-ists’, anyone with an ounce of patriotism and a conscience, will settle for nothing less than ousting the perps who intentionally got us into their war which they knew in advance would be disastrous.***
…and very likely, as an added bonus…

  6. Just as it happened in ’74 when impeachment investigations started revealing the Nixon Administration’s crimes, Republican politicians will call for Bush/Cheney resignations so they won’t be put into the lose-lose position of either siding with criminals or participating in the impeachment of the leaders of their own party.****

*Congress can start by interrogating Colin Powell [under oath] and have him elaborate on the implications he made on June 10, ’07 on ‘Meet the Press’. On that show, he implied that before he went before the UN with his infamous ‘mushroom cloud’ presentation, contradictory evidence was withheld from him—information that almost certainly the Administration was privy to. We deserve to know specifics.

**Congress can also find out why there was no exhaustive investigation into the origin of forged documents that were instrumental [so they say] in the Administration’s decision to invade Iraq. Who in his right mind (upon finding out that documents which contributed to his making the worst decision in his life were forged) would not want to find out who forged those documents and why—unless, perhaps, he already knew and didn’t want everyone else to know?

*** Before your Bushie brother-in-law calls you a ranting, radical nut job, tell him to watch this clip of Cheney in ’94. While Bush & Cheney were selling their war they were saying we’d be in & out of Iraq in a few months. This clip proves that they [well, at least Cheney] knew better. (If your brother-in-law still can’t figure why Bush & Cheney would deliberately lead us into a disaster, have him read up on Halliburton, Blackwater, other war profiteers, and their family friends in the Oil industry. Without war, biz is bad!)

Businesses that use false advertising face consequences simply for duping folks into buying their products. Bush & Cheney’s deceptive sales job has cost: thousands of American families their daddies, mommies, sons, & daughters; brave soldiers tens of thousands of limbs, organs, and brain cells; and American taxpayers many hundreds of billions of dollars. Iraqi casualties are 100 times greater. The ‘perps’ must be held to account! We, the people of the USA, cannot let these guys complete their terms as though we’re OK with their crimes. We have to send future administrations and the rest of the world a very strong message to the contrary.

****In contrast to the way things played out in ’74 with Nixon, this time no pardons should be forthcoming unless the ‘perps’ go before the country and unconditionally confess to their crimes. Unconditional confessions from Bush & Cheney will minimize lingering arguments among our fellow citizens as to their guilt. Such lingering arguments would continue to widen the chasm between us. We are presently divided between those of us who are convinced that Congress was not given the whole story prior to their ‘war powers’ vote and those who think they were fully informed and are equally complicit in our predicament.

Bush & Cheney’s last chance to demonstrate an inkling of patriotism and finally add a plus to their ‘legacy’ will be to own up to their crimes. If they continue to think mainly of themselves, and no truly remorseful confessions are made, there should be no limit to their culpability and prosecution.

There are numerous other crimes of Bush & Cheney, any of which could legally justify their impeachment. Unfortunately, many Americans are ok with torture, illegal detention, illegal surveillance, and most of the Administration’s other crimes because they actually buy into the spin that those crimes have ‘made us safer’; and in their minds the ‘ends justify the means’. But, the crime of willfully and deceitfully taking us into a war that they knew had nothing to do with the terrorism threat and would cripple us for many years is the one crime that, when proven beyond any doubt, will rally the overwhelming majority of our fellow citizens. We will unite behind the cry for impeachment. The healing of our country and the restoration of world regard for our country will begin!

Restored world regard will result in a multinational effort for Iraq that will facilitate our responsible withdrawal.

Call or email your representative and insist on impeachment. All you have to do is go to the home page of this website and in the top left column enter your zip code in the Write to Congress box to get you started. Hey! Do it now!
